The Obie Salon and Spa was established in 2017. The owners, Meagan Moore-Jones and Whitney Crider, are sisters who wanted to provide to a high-end, relaxing experience for their clients. 

The Obie was named after a branch of Dale Hollow Lake where the owners travel yearly, The Obey River. Its tranquil, flowing waters were the inspiration for the vibe created at The Obie Salon and Spa. 

In 2025, The Obie moved to a building adjacent to the original Obie to provide a more intimate version, located at 4607 North Wheeling. The dedication to relaxation is seen throughout The Obie 2.0.
